Saif Ali Khan to star in Netflix’s Sacred Games

Indian star Saif Ali Khan has been cast in Netflix’s first Indian series, Sacred Games, which the streaming giant is co-producing with Mumbai-based Phantom Films.

Netflix announced the news today in a Twitter post. Khan’s recent credits include Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon and Kabir Khan’s Phantom. His upcoming films include a Hindi remake of Jon Favreau’s Chef and Akshat Verma’s Kaalakaandi, produced by Cinestaan Film Company.

Based on a best-selling novel written by Vikram Chandra, Sacred Games is a Hindi and English-language drama exploring Mumbai’s “intricate web of organised crime, corruption and politics, which lie beneath India’s economic renaissance”.

Netflix is also working with Indian comedian Vir Das on a Netflix Original Comedy Special, which will be streamed worldwide in more than 100 countries.
