Vice Media is partnering with Indonesian tech company Go-Jek to produce feature-length film, When We Dance, directed by Joko Anwar.

The film is set for release before the end of 2019. Anwar’s last feature, Satan’s Slaves, was produced by Indonesia’s Rapi Films and Korea’s CJ Entertainment. Sold internationally by CJ, it secured theatrical releases in more than 40 countries.

Vice Indonesia managing director Mo Morris said: “We are all incredibly excited to be working with Joko Anwar, one of Asia’s most challenging film directors, and Go-Jek, with its new push into bold and innovative storytelling, felt like the perfect partner.”

Vice is also extending its partnership with Go-Jek on a slate of original content, starting with sports documentary series Underdogs, about the challenges facing Indonesian athletes, and Upstarts, about people pushing the boundaries of what is possible to achieve Indonesia. Pilot episodes from both series have been viewed more than 4 million times.

Go-Jek provides online services including ride-hailing, food delivery, logistics and mobile payments in Indonesia.
