Indian streamer Voot, owned by the Viacom 18 network, is launching original drama series Khwabon Ke Parindey on its platform on June 14.

Sponsored by cryptocurrency app CoinDCX Go and leading telco Airtel, the six-part series is set in Australia and stars Asha Negi, Mrinal Dutt, Manasi Moghe and Tushar Sharma.

The story revolves around three friends who are joined by a quirky and rugged hitchhiker on an adventurous and life-altering road trip from Melbourne to Perth.

Khwabon Ke Parindey marks the beginning of our originals slate this year and we are sure that Voot, with its immersive content and enhanced engagement, will garner significant audience patronage,” said Chanpreet Arora, business head, AVOD at Viacom18 Digital Ventures.

Ramalingam S, CoinDCX Go’s chief marketing officer, said: “Crypto and blockchain is a concept supported and promoted by dreamers. By partnering with Khwabon Ke Parindey, we felt that by supporting this unique show we’ll be able to give wings to these dreamers.”

Voot has been playing catch-up with the global streamers in the Indian originals space, but scored successes last year with crime thriller Asur, starring Arshad Warsi and Barun Sobti, and The Gone Game, about a family searching for a missing son, starring Shweta Tripathi, Sanjay Kapoor and Arjun Mathur.

Separately, Viacom18 has a web series production outfit, Tipping Point Films, which has produced shows such as Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega for Netflix.
