Lipovsky to direct Dead Rising adaptation

Zach Lipovsky has signed on to direct Legendary Digital Media’s zombie feature Dead Rising, which Sony’s Crackle will distribute in the US.

Discovered through Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett’s reality TV series On The Lot, Lipovsky most reently directed Leprechaun: Origins for Lionsgate and WWE Studios. The film is currently enjoying a limited theatrical release, following its premiere at Comic-Con, and will be released on VOD on August 26.

Based on a Capcom game that was launched on Xbox 360 in 2006, Dead Rising is set during a massive zombie outbreak that a government vaccine has failed to stop.

Tim Carter wrote the script and will produce with Tomas Harlan through their joint production outfit Contradiction Films, which also produced Mortal Kombat: Legacy for Machinima. Lorenzo di Bonaventura will executive produce.

Crackle will give the 90-minute film an exclusive digital relese in the US, ahead of a multi-platform release, while Content Media Corp will handle international distribution.
