Vimeo, eOne sign distribution pact
Vimeo and Entertainment One Films (eOne) have signed a distribution deal, which includes day-and-date release of four features on Vimeo On Demand in North America.
The deal also covers ongoing releases from eOne’s library of more than 35,000 film and television titles. The four day-and-date titles are Claudia Meyers’ Fort Bliss (September 19), Catch Hell (October 10), The Culture High (October 17) and A Merry Friggin Christmas, starring Robin Williams (November 7).
In addition, Vimeo has closed a separate deal with the filmmaking team behind The Culture High to extend the film to global audiences.
“As the industry’s largest global independent distributor, eOne is a powerful partner for Vimeo and our mutual dedication to connecting content creators with audiences around the world makes it even more exciting,” said Sam Toles, Vimeo’s vice president, Content Acquisitions and Business Development.
Fort Bliss stars Michelle Monaghan (True Detective) as a decorated army medic and single mother as she returns home from an extended tour in Afghanistan.
Ryan Phillippe’s directorial debut, Catch Hell is a suspense thriller that follows former Hollywood star Reagon Pearce (Phillippe) as he is kidnapped by thugs on the way to work. The Culture High is a new feature documentary about the modern day marijuana debate, while A Merry Friggin’ Christmas is a comedy also starring Joel McHale and Lauren Graham.
The deal was announced at the Toronto International Film Festival, where Vimeo is also co-hosting the Vimeo Convergence Centre seminar series and presenting the TIFF Vimeo Short Cuts Channel.
Earlier this year, eOne acquired Phase 4 Films to ramp up its VOD, digital and home entertainment distribution in the North American market.
